Jamal Abas

Criminal Defence Lawyer – Associate

“For anyone charged with a crime, the presumption of innocence must be respected. Advocating for you and your rights and ensuring fairness in the process is at the forefront of my practice."

Born and raised in Manitoba’s Interlake, Jamal got his start as a farmer, working alongside his parents on the four-generation grain and cattle farm in Hodgson. Dedication and hard work were first honed with daily chores. He brings that same dedication and hard work to the practice of criminal defence.

In 2020 Jamal left the farm to pursue a law degree in Dundee, Scotland. It was there that he received his two-year accelerated LLB. Upon graduation in 2022, he returned to Canada and completed his equivalency through the National Committee on Accreditation, completed in 2024. Jamal articled with Wolson Roitenberg Robinson Wolson and was called to the Bar in June of 2025.

Jamal represents people from across Manitoba, with a special focus in the Interlake and surrounding areas. Jamal is fiercely committed to advocating for his clients. In his spare time, Jamal enjoys farming, reading, painting, kayaking, and year-round running. He is often planning for his next race or his next trip to the bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
